COSMO FRY : BEAUTIFUL RACKS & SHELVES

The same three materials still compliment the fabrication of the plate rack today; notably, Plywood, Iroko and Ash.

Plywood cheeks;  mention of plywood prompts a throwback to the 50’s and 60’s era of contemporary design. It has been chosen for its enduring strength, lightness and flexibility.  There is no alternative sheet material that enables such decorative detail and at the same time guarantees stability.

Iroko slats and ash dowel; Iroko is a hardwood and often mistaken for teak, ash has been chosen for it’s lightness in colour and interesting grain, both are well suited for their density, durability and resistance to moisture. In addition, both are stable woods and neither prone to twisting or warping across a long length

Assembly of the plate racks involves glued pressure joints throughout and there is no requirement for screwed joints.

Workshop finishes – all plate racks are varnished prior to leaving the factory with two coats of refined Danish oil.  This treatment ensures a tough, durable, waterproof finish whilst at the same time enriching the wood grain to provide a beautiful low sheen lustre.

Alternative workshop finishes – to add colour to your plate rack, we recommend a select range and choice of 12 Formica laminate colours.  This application is primarily design led and combines two stalwart materials of the 50’s and 60’s, Formica and plywood.  Both faces of each plywood check are faced in Formica laminate.  The result, an exciting marriage of two iconic materials.
